| |
Shelli Anderson knows that it sounds like a
cliche’ to say she became a lawyer to help people, but it is the
truth. In fact, along with her responsibilities as an associate
attorney at Van Valer Law Firm, she has also devoted extra time
to casework for the Protective Order Pro Bono Project of
Indianapolis. Shelli began this role while a student at the
Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis, where she
received her J.D. in 2004. As a law student, she also served as
Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Dictum, the law school newspaper, and
was a member of the Democratic Law Society, the Dean’s Tutorial
Society and the Women’s Caucus.
Originally from Madison,
Indiana, Shelli earned degrees in telecommunications and Spanish
from Indiana University in 1997. After graduation, she moved to
Indianapolis with her husband. There, during and after law
school, her experience in various clerking and associate
attorney positions honed her expertise in personal injury,
business and real estate law. One of Shelli’s more memorable
internships occurred during the summer of 2003, when she
functioned as a legal intern for the U.S. Dept. of
Transportation, Maritime Administration, in Washington, D.C.
At Van Valer, Shelli continues to practice personal injury,
business, community association, and real estate law, along with
litigation, worker’s compensation, estate planning and probate.
Shelli is a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in
Franklin and holds memberships in the Builders Association of
Greater Indianapolis, the American Bar Association, the Indiana
State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association and the
Johnson County Bar Association.
